Early Morning Graze – Banff, Alberta
Captured in the quiet stillness of an early spring morning, this photograph brings us to the edge of a forest lane near Banff, Alberta — a place where patience is often rewarded with presence. Hoping to catch a glimpse of local wildlife, we rose with the sun and waited along the tree line. Soon, as if by invitation, this deer emerged from the underbrush.
Its velvet-covered antlers still in the early stages of growth, the deer moved slowly and with calm purpose, grazing among the fresh greenery. Framed by the delicate blossoms and dense foliage of the forest’s edge, the scene evokes a deep sense of connection to place — wild yet familiar, serene yet alive with quiet tension.
Moments like these remind us of the quiet wonder found not in grand gestures, but in the intimate acts of being — of a creature simply feeding, unaware of its own poetry in the light. In this still encounter, the landscape breathes, and we, too, pause to listen.
