I had just swapped my telephoto for a macro lens while kneeling beneath the boughs of a blooming apple tree when the unmistakable hum of wings caused me to look up. There, suspended mid-air, hovered a ruby-throated hummingbird, poised in a moment as fleeting as it was perfect.

Framed by the soft light of spring and the delicate blush of apple blossoms, the bird appears almost sculpted from light and motion. Its iridescent feathers catch the green of new leaves and the gleam of morning dew, while the blossoms reach gently toward its presence, as if in silent welcome.
