Common Loon, Late afternoon sun

Golden Hour – Common Loon, Lac du Cœur.
The haunting call of the loon is woven into the very fabric of the Canadian wilderness. It echoes across still waters, stirring something deep and familiar.
On this evening, we were drifting silently in the canoe—letting the wind and the current do most of the work. The goal was to get close enough for a clear image, without stressing the bird.
The loon, with its familiar checkered plumage, glided through golden reflections as the sun sank low. Everything stilled—just the hush of water, the pulse of light, and this emblem of the wild moving without haste or fear.
It was a moment that needed nothing more.
